The holiday season can be a stressful one sharing the roads with numerous domestic travellers and international tourists. We've put together some Holiday Season Roadie tips to help you savor the journey as much as the final destination.

Holiday Season Roadie tips:

  • Take your time, enjoy cafe's and rest stops enroute to stay refreshed
  • When its safe to do so, pull over and let other motorists pass
  • Try and take long road trips between destinations at non peak times
  • Every time you fuel up wash your windscreen to keep your vision clear
  • Get some good driving sunglasses - there is nothing worse than sun-strike
  • Do not trust traffic lights, make your own judgement about when its safe to go - people are impatient at this time of year and are not afraid to run a red light!

Lastly, upon reaching your destination, take a moment to unwind, kick back, and indulge in a much-deserved getaway.

Try some of these tips to make the destination just that little bit better:

  • Why not try a great kiwi summer recipe thanks to NZ Motorhomes, Caravans & Destinations where you'll find heaps of great options for cooking and baking.
  • Walk barefoot along the beach, lake or grass - there is something relaxing about being barefoot and connected to the earth.
  • Read a book or magazine - our pick this summer is the NZ Today Walk & Cycle Trails 2024 which features over 40 stunning walks and trails to enjoy across New Zealand, available in print or digital versions.
  • Share your photos, holiday tips or destinations on our TrailLite Facebook page.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2024!
