A recent satellite update from Freeview and Sky TV has impacted some satellite dishes installed in TrailLite Group motorhomes and caravans. Below is everything you need to know, what systems are affected, and how to get back up and running.
On Tuesday, April 15th, Freeview and Sky TV transitioned to a new satellite. While this change went relatively smoothly for fixed home receivers, automatic satellite dishes like the Kiwi-Sat, Samy54, and SamySolar models require updated software or replacement. You can learn more about what's happened here: KiwiSat Update with Duncan
Our supplier, Apollo Entertainment, has developed a software update to restore functionality for Kiwi-Sat satellite systems.
You can:
🔧 Perform the update yourself – You'll need a laptop and a printer-style USB cable.
🛠️ Book with TrailLite Group– We’re offering support at our Pukekohe and Christchurch Service Centres
Please note: a service fee may apply depending on your selected support option.
If your satellite dish:
Fails to lock onto a signal
Displays a "no signal" or similar error
… then it likely needs the software update.
Our team has looked into possible solutions, but due to not having a DVB-S2 tuner, they aren't compatible with the new satellite signal. Unfortunately, this means they’ll need to be replaced.
If you’re impacted, please contact our team - we’re here to talk through the options and help you find the best solution moving forward.
Good news — these systems are not impacted and continue to function normally.
We know this unexpected transition may be frustrating. We’re working closely with Apollo Entertainment to ensure our customers are supported through the process. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Unfortunately, the timing of this has led right into the Easter weekend break. After Thursday afternoon our team will be back on deck Tuesday 22 April.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition.
